200t Tadano GTC-2000 for Schmidbauer

German rental company Schmidbauer has taken delivery of a new 200 tonne Tadano GTC-2000 telescopic crawler crane.

The new crane features a six section 60 metre boom plus a five to 23 metre hydraulic luffing extension for an 85 metre maximum tip height. Its tracks can be extended asymmetrically to any position with the crane’s intelligent control system, which automatically calculates the load chart to suit the actual track configuration, slope and slew angle. It can pick & carry its full load chart and also has load charts for working on slopes of up to four degrees, at which it can handle 34 tonnes at a 12 metre radius with 30 metres of boom.

Chief executive Stefan Schmidbauer said: “The concept behind the GTC-2000 really won us over. It’s remarkably powerful, extraordinarily reliable and very easy to operate, something our team really values - in every single Tadano crane. We know that we can count on Tadano Service 100 percent at any time. Their team always finds a fast and effective solution regardless of what the issue is, and that obviously played a part in our decision to get another Tadano.”

The GTC-2000 was delivered to Schmidbauer’s premises in Gräfelfing, where the operators were given an extensive introduction and training on the new cranes. It was then transferred directly to the Boppard-Weiler wind farm south of Koblenz, where it has been assisting with the turbine installations and rigging larger cranes.
