Crane crash blocks LA highway

A large Demag All Terrain crane owned by Brewer Crane and Rigging of San Diego, crashed into the central reservation of the southbound I-405 highway near LAX Los Angeles International airport yesterday, killing the driver.

Luckily no one was hit on the other side

The cranes carrier cab is reported to have burst in to flames on impact, while the superstructure slewed 90 degrees as the trailing boom dolly jumped over the central barrier causing the telescoped boom to stretch across the fast lane of the northbound side of the highway.

Miraculously no one else was hurt.
