PAC opens two new companies

Powered Access Certification Ltd, the notified body founded by IPAF and sold to retiring managing director Paul Adorian last year, has announced the formation of two new companies that will take the group into new areas.

The new ventures which will be autonomous from PAC in order to preserve the notified bodies indeendence and special status are; Lifting Equipment Training Ltd (LTE) and Lifting Equipment Technology Ltd (LET)

Lifting Equipment Training Ltd will concentrate on specialist training courses for the lifting equipment industry from operators to top management. One of the first courses to be introduced covers operator training for telescopic handlers, with a wide range of ‘bolt-on’ modules, to meet the ever increasing variety of attachments that are available for use with telehandlers.
A further range of courses aimed at management, will cover all applicable legislation, clearly identifying responsibilities throughout the chain of command while stressing the need for management to be aware of current and forthcoming legislation and its possible effect on employees.

The new business will also add a competent persons certification scheme, similar to that operated by PAC when part of IPAF entitled the Thorough Examination Competence Certification, (TECC), it will be aimed at those companies owning or operating telehandlers. And can include a structural module to train competent persons on where to look and how to spot signs of structural fatigue or damage.

Lifting Equipment Technology Ltd is a separate consultancy arm, providing services to industry on all matters connected with lifting both people and objects. The Company will provide a far reaching consultancy service to cover design, use, special equipment, accident investigation and expert witnessing, along with a general problem solving service and will not necessarily confine its activities to lifting equipment.

PAC itself is also brancing out offering CE certification for a wide variety of equipment. A significant part of PAC’s revenues already come from CE approvals for equipment other than powered access machines. An increasingly important part of PAC’s work now comes from American companies and so in order too better serve its American clientel, PAC is establishing a new office in California. It also has plans to open a new branch in continental Europe.
