UK Construction activity remains strong

The Latest statistics from the Institute of Purchasing managers show that construction activity in the UK continues to grow, albeit at a slightly slower pace.

The level of new orders remained strong with optimism rising to its highest level in five months, driven by rising demand and expanding capacity. Commercial construction leads the sector, maintaining solid upward trends.

When questioned about their expectations for activity levels in twelve months’ time, six out of ten respondents expected activity to rise over the coming year, pointing to sustained strong demand conditions in the sector and, in the case of a number of firms, capacity expansion programmes to enable them to take on greater volumes of new work.
