Electric Manitous for Naboen

In December Manitou delivered the largest order that it has received so far for its new 60ft all electric 200 ATJ E articulated Rough Terrain boom lift. The order was placed by Norwegian rental company Naboen.

The lifts are likely to remain in Oslo which has increasingly tough emissions regulations, having first mandated clean sites in 2017.

The all new 200 ATJ E was unveiled at Bauma last year as part of the Manitou’s new ‘Oxygen’ range of environmentally friendly machines. It employs a dual sigma type riser, two section telescopic boom and articulating jib. The drivetrain uses two heavy duty telehandler axles, powered by large inboard mounted AC drive motor.

Maximum outreach is around 11.5 metres at an up & over height of eight metres with the maximum platform capacity of 230kg and 125 degrees jib articulation. Overall weight is 7,100kg, while it measures 2.32 metres wide, 2.5 metres in height and 8.34 metres in length.

Jone Ølberg (L) and Nina Aasland of Naboen take delivery of the first unit

Naboen chief executive Nina Aasland said: "This investment is one of the most important of the year for our group. With nine locations throughout Norway, we are convinced that these innovative and sustainable solutions will meet all of our customers' needs. Our objective is clearly stated: to become the leader in the rental of green equipment."

Manitou vice president of fleet sales Alain Becque added: "Our company has always been a pioneer in its social responsibility policy. This range of electric work platforms are a concrete illustration of this commitment. We are seeing a growing demand from our rental customers for low or zero emission solutions and the 200 ATJ E platform is a concrete response to these expectations as well as providing a lower total cost of ownership.”

Naboen was established in Stavanger in 1996 with expansion stepping up in 2010. The company acquired aerial lift rental company Bærum Liftutleie in 2014, taking it into the Oslo aerial lift market. It now has more than 1,250 aerial lifts in its fleet, including truck mounts, spider lifts, scissors, booms, and trailer lifts, while its overall rental fleet totals more than 10,000 units from tools to telehandlers. It began investing in larger electric boom lifts back in 2017 when it purchased a number of 120ft all electric Riwal / JLG1200SJP in 2017.
