250 tonner for Kranverleih

German rental company Kranverleih Wilhelm has taken delivery of a 250 tonne Grove GMK5250XL-1 All Terrain crane.

The five axle crane features an eight section 78.5 metre main boom topped by an 18 metre bi-fold swingaway extension that can be extended to 34 metres with additional inserts. Features include Grove’s MAXbase variable outrigger setup, Megatrak suspension with all-wheel steering and twin lock boom pinning system. Power comes from a single HVO ready Stage V Mercedes diesel which is said to offer a 30 percent reduction in fuel consumption compared to previous power units.

Holger Haber of Grove said: “The Wilhelm team is taking a significant part of Germany’s energy transformation and looking forward to supporting their wide range of industrial and petro chemical clients with their strong and compact new 78.5 metre long boom crane. The outrigger footprint of only 7.8 metre width will fit their crane easy into tight jobsites and paired with the MAXbase asymmetric outrigger positioning system it will offer significant set-up flexibility and load capacity advantages for a high utilisation of their new machine.”

The new crane replaces a 220 tonne GMK5220 and joins its three 'little siblings' - a 100 tonne GMK4100L-2, a 150 tonne GMK5150XL and a 60 tonne GMK3060.
