Timbermat expands into Scotland

UK outrigger mat and ground protection provider Timbermat has expanded into Scotland with the opening of a new depot in Forth, Lanarkshire.

According to the company the new premises will hold an extensive inventory for the Scottish market, facilitating faster delivery times as well as minimising transportation costs for both the company and its clients.

Timbermat’s managing director John Roberts said: “Unpredictable weather conditions, especially in the north of the country, can put unexpected demand on the supply. As we have been experiencing constant demand for ground protection mats in Scotland it made sense for us to have a depot there."

"Furthermore, the local sawmills and transportation contractors we use in the north of the country should also benefit from increased revenue, which can only be good news for them, the region and us.”

The company has also increased its stock of new Emtek 31F mats, which provide calculated load and deflection ratings, and invested in FSC timber and SFI/PEFC certifications to meet new European Union Timber Regulations - see: EU timber import rules to change.

I surmise concepts like Timbermats developed years ago and have been tested tried and proven in various forms against various conditions. My small business of arboriculture (tree service) serving residences and commercial estabs often needs mats to access trees when turf needs protection or the property is quite wet from weather. When I saw this article all I could say was "That's just what we need!" I recently searched the Internet to find that Alturnamats seem to be the most favored product for arborists.
