Lithium spider for Elavation
UK based access rental company Elavation has taken delivery of its first lithium ion battery powered spider lift, a 20 metre Hinowa Lightlift 20.10 llls Performance.
The new machine offers 9.7 metres of outreach and 230 kg platform capacity, enough for two operators and their equipment. The compact machine weighs around 2,800kg and can pass through a single doorway.
The lithium power pack allows the machine to work a full shift on a single charge and maintains the same speeds and performance as an internal combustion version of the lift. The Milton Keynes based rental company already operates the 14 metre Hinowa 14.70 spider lift.

Lithium batteries are used since many years on thousands (or millions) of electric or hybrid cars.
At the time lithium batteries are also used as starting batteries on high level cars, instead of the lead batteries.
Lithium technology is used in many different kind of machines, as for example millions of electric bikes spread in the World.
Never heard about fires problems.
There is always an internal control board called BMS able to avoid any kind of problems.
Surely there are less fire risks on lithium machines than fuel machines.

Do they realise that you can't charge Lithium batteries when the temperature is below freezing? They are risking battery fires.
