Hewden signs £2 million deal with Skanska

UK based rental company Hewden has signed a two-year deal with construction group Skanska worth up to £2 million a year. The deal includes the UK-wide supply of temporary site accommodation on a preferred supply basis.

One of the main drivers within Skanska is sustainable and green procurement and the company is keen to develop long-term relationships with partners that can provide environmentally responsible, low carbon offerings.

Hewden’s health and safety record, which includes OHSAS 18001 accreditations at every location, along with a continued commitment to the environment played a major part when it came to Skanska’s final decision. In particular, Hewden could specify accommodation units with features such as double-glazing, rainwater storage and additional insulation to reduce power usage.

Andrew MacAskill, director of procurement and supply chain at Skanska said: “Hewden’s numerous accreditations, including its Achilles Building Confidence award spoke volumes to us. We are strongly backing green suppliers that can demonstrate stringent quality and health and safety procedures and who can share our belief that we can achieve an Injury Free Environment (IFE) on all our sites.”
