Platformers' Days 2004 gets underway

More than 50 international lifting equipment producers and dealers opened up their stands this morning as the gates were opened to visitors on this, the first day of the 2004 Platformers’ Days exhibition being held at its usual picturesque Hessen Hotelpark setting in Hohenroda, Germany.

Despite the damp conditions, more than 100 machines, ranging from telehandlers to spider-type platforms, have been supplied by some of the world’s biggest manufacturers to give members of the public the chance to get their hands dirty and test the equipment in the iron for themselves, and under field conditions!

Among the equipment on show is a new 360 degree rotation telehandler from Genie and a 31-metre tracked spider platform from Omme Lift of Denmark. JLG has also brought along one of the first Toucan platforms decked-out its own orange and grey livery, following the firm’s acquisition of the Delta Manlift business and the Toucan aerial platform line from the Manitowoc Group earlier in the year.

Over the next couple of days, the Platformers’ Days show will host a program of informative talks and panel discussions, open to users, rental companies, manufacturers and members of the public alike, culminating in the popular Vertical Check event, which takes place tomorrow afternoon. This year, 20-metre working height, straight-boom truck-mounted platforms on 3.5-tonne chassis will battle it out in the open in front of the crowds.
