Liverpool appoints Briggs
Briggs Equipment UK is to handle the maintenance of the Peel Ports’ cranes and operational plant at the Port of Liverpool.
Briggs will be responsible for the multi-million pound asset base, spanning some 1,200 acres, with the Port’s underlying objective being to deliver the most reliable and responsive service to its customers of any UK port.
The Peel Ports has challenged Briggs to maximise equipment uptime with predictive / preventative maintenance programmes, with a target to provide around 98 percent availability of equipment for operations.
Examples of the equipment which will be handled within the contract are ship-to-shore container cranes, quayside cranes, straddle carriers, harbour mobile cranes and other mobile equipment supporting the port’s multi terminal operations.
Brad Crumbleholme, engineering manager for the Port of Liverpool, said “The Port has undergone major changes in recent times with engineering being one of them. We have an aggressive growth programme and recognise that this can only be delivered with outstanding customer service. The support offered by Briggs will enable us to realise these challenges.
Briggs UK chief executive Richard Close added: “We look forward to working in partnership with Peel Ports to help bring these benefits to the Port of Liverpool”.
