2010 Plant Hire Investment Report

The UK 2009/2010 Plant Hire Investment Report, by Catherine Stratton has been published.

The 130 page report is the 17th of Stratton’s annual look at the UK equipment rental industry in which she reviews the progress of the leading 75 companies. Stratton points out that the period is the most difficult encountered by the sector in the last two decades if not ever.

In spite of the challenges she notes that most companies have survived, albeit with some restructuring and rationalisation. She now predicts a period of consolidation with private equity firms likely to be making the significant running.

As with some other surveys and reports Stratton uses information filed with Companies House as her base, but unlike most of the others, the results are compiled manually. This allows her to look into the numbers of each company and follow up where necessary using her contacts with most of the major players. As a result she publishes candid and incisive overviews on each company as well as a large number of comparative and meaningful charts.
