American Rental man joins A-plants Access Business

Steve Shaughnessy, former CEO of Shaughnessy Equipment and chief operating officer of NES Rentals in the USA, has accepted a position in the United Kingdom with Ashtead’s UK business A-Plant, responsible for the UK access hire business.

Shaughnessy’s background is in the aerial lift rental industry and will, one imagines be bringing some North American ideas to the UK market?

Shaughnessy grew up in the equipment business, helping in the Boston-based family-owned distribution business and later going on to lead that organization until it was acquired by National Equipment Services in the late 1990s. Shaughnessy was a regional vice president and later COO for NES.

Shaughnessy started work with A Plant access on Friday October 1st.

A-Plant are number five in the UK in this years Cranes&Access UK/Ireland Top 20 with over 1,500 aerial in its fleet. In the USA its Sunbelt division claims to be number four in the USA rental market and certainly operates one of the largest aerial fleets.
