Liebherr has delivered the 300th LTM1500-8.1 500 tonne All Terrain crane to Brazilian based crane company Tomé
The LTM1500 -8.1 was launched in 1998 at Bauma with the 200th unit delivered 10 years later in 2008. Just two years later the 300th has shipped.
Tomé was established in 1973 and today employs 4,000 in a range of sectors from basic engineering and technical planning to construction, crane operation and heavy haulage.
The crane business employs around 1,500 with a fleet of 200 mobile and crawler cranes as well as 700 transport units. The crane rental business is a significant part of the group’s activities.
In late 2009 Tomé and Liebherr concluded an order worth more than €40 million including three 600 tonne LR 1600/2-W crawler cranes, a 750 tonne LR 1750, two 1,200 tonne LTM 11200-9.1 telescopic All Terrains and the 500 tonne LTM 1500-8.1 which has now been handed over.
Washington Luiz de Moura, chief financial officer of Holding Tomé and chief operating officer of of Tomé Equipamentos e Transportes – the crane and heavy transport business – cited spare parts supply and reliable after-sales service as key reasons for selecting Liebherr cranes.
The LTM1500 has a choice of a 50 metre or 84 metre telescopic boom, with operators able to use both variations depending on the job at hand.
