Cat adds parts depot in Dubai

Caterpillar Logistics Services has announced plans to open a new parts distribution centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The new centre will be the third facility added to Caterpillar’s worldwide service parts distribution network in the last five years. The 42,000 square metre/450,000sqft facility is part of an on-going expansion and enhancement programme for the Europe, Africa and Middle East Cat Parts distribution network.

The Dubai centre, which joins existing regional locations in Grimbergen, Johannesburg and Moscow. will employ between 100 and 120 people and is intended to strengthen primary aftermarket parts support in the Africa and Middle East region. It is expected to open in 2012.

The new facility will contribute to Caterpillar’s sustainable development goals by reducing airfreight for parts ordered in the region. Operations for the new Dubai Distribution
