Altec acquires Aerial Lift of Connecticut

US based crane and lift manufacturer Altec, has acquired ’certain assets’ of Aerial Lift of Connecticut a manufacturer of aerial lifts for the tree care industry, that went into bankruptcy at the end of April.

The purchase of the company which is based in Milford, Connecticut was made through a wholly owned subsidiary Altec NUECO.

Altec NUECO will provide replacement parts and service support to customers who own equipment manufactured by Aerial Lift of Connecticut, but is not expected to recommence production of the company’s lifts.

Altec chief executive Lee Styslinger, III, said: "This acquisition provides Altec with a unique opportunity to strengthen service to our tree care, landscape and line clearing customers. Aerial Lift of Connecticut's well-established reputation for producing reliable, quality products for more than 50 years, will enhance Altec NUECO's already strong support for customers in these industries."

Aerial Lift was established in 1958 and not only manufactured specialised ‘bucket trucks’ for the tree care industry, but also provided a national support service- including spare parts, repairs and inspections. The company has struggled since the second generation took over the business, following the death of the founder.

The company wrote to its customers at the end of January informing them that the company was to declare bankruptcy and would close within 90 days.
