Two injured at ‘Jazz at Lincoln Centre’, NY
Two stagehands were injured after what was described as a 'Genie Lift' tipped over at the Jazz at Lincoln Centre theatre in Columbus Circle, New York. None of the injuries are serious.
The accident occurred when the lift was being used backstage at the fifth floor Rose Theatre of the venue inside the Time Warner Centre. The stagehands were setting up for the US premier of the opera Selma Jezková, performed by the Royal Danish Opera and Orchestra.
Some reports say that the lift went over while erecting a curtain. The injured stagehands, one man and one woman, were taken to Cornell Medical Center, where a NYPD spokesman said they were in a stable condition.

Jazz at Lincoln Center vice president Gail Beltron said: "During the set up for an evening performance two stagehands were involved in a minor accident. They are receiving medical attention and the performance is scheduled to commence at 8 pm. as planned."
"The incident is not related to any activity or equipment that occurs or is used during the performance," Beltrone said. She added that the stagehands were doing "incidental work," but would not elaborate on how they were injured.
