Manitowoc Crane considers lay offs

Manitowoc Crane has said that it is considering some lay-offs within specific areas of its operations over the next couple of months or so.

The announcement was made to the local press in its home town of Manitowoc Wisconsin, following a meeting that the company held with its employees to discuss possible short time work in areas of the business that might be quiet over the winter period.

The company has said that no details or specifics have been decided and that any cuts were only likely to affect some parts of its operations.

Up to 300 welders, machinists and other staff will be subject to lay-offs in mid September for two weeks with full recall planned for October 24th.
