Fatal scaffold fall

A man fell to his death from a façade scaffold on Monday at a job site in Hennersdorf near Vienna.

The man, a 45 year old Polish worker, was carrying working on the façade of an apartment building in the district of Mödling, when he fell around 10 to 12 metres. No one saw what happened, his colleagues found him lying on the ground shortly after he must have fallen. He was pronounced dead when the emergency services arrived, as he had already succumbed to his injuries.

The safety inspector investigating the accident declared that the incident had to have been either self-inflicted or due to negligence as the scaffold itself did not appear to have been at fault.
