TP&L takes first American LTR1220
Heavy lift and haulage company Transportation Partners & Logistics LLC (TP&L) has taken delivery of the first 220 tonne Liebherr LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane in America.
Unveiled at the Liebherr customer days last year, the LTR1220 features the same 60 metre boom found on the LTM 1220-5.2 All Terrain crane. Fitted with a 12.2 to 22.2 metre bi-fold swing-away, which can be extended further with two seven metre lattice sections.
The crane went straight to work unloading wind turbine mast sections with the company saying that the crane was ideal due to its ability to drive on narrow wind farm roads with a track width of just 4.5 metres, which extend to 7.25 metres for lifting operations.

President of TP&L Jim Orr said: “We needed at least a 200-ton capacity crawler to pick and carry 150,000-pound/68 tonne loads and this crane fits our needs perfectly. The great thing about the LTR 1220 is we can retract the boom and move around a location where power lines or piping are obstacles. With a lattice boom crawler, you might have to take boom sections off to move the crane around, and that costs time and money to us and our customers.”
Based in Kansas, Transportation Partners & Logistics LLC provides a transport logistics management service with the company claiming oversized and overweight loads a specialty. It has an extensive fleet of trailers and cranes topped by a 400 tonner.
