Crushing incident in Utah
A man died in a bucket truck in Bountiful, Utah, on Friday, after he was crushed against an overhead obstacle.
Using a pole type crane/lift, which are commonly used by sign erectors in the USA, Richard Gillies, 66, of Gillies Signs & Design, was working from the basket with the boom horizontal when he ran into a problem at a height of around four to five metres. His son, spotting a problem, tried to reposition the machine from the lower controls. It was at this point that his father then fell from the platform. He was rushed to hospital, but declared dead on arrival.
