Heavy duty Multitel for Higher Access

UK-based spider lift specialist Higher Access has taken delivery of the first Heavy Duty Multitel SMX250HD spider lift.

The company says it worked closely with Multitel to develop the machine, the SMX250HD offers up to 25.3 metres of working height and a maximum outreach of 11.6 metres. It also has an increased platform capacity of 220kg and no restrictions to the working envelope.

Higher Access says that the SMX250HD is soon to be followed by a 29 metre model, which is expected to have a 290kg platform capacity and greater outreach.

Higher Access operations director Peter Ashburner, who spent time with the Multitel design team in Fossano, Italy, said: "We have a number of customers which we supply tracked equipment who need machines with greater 'off-road' capability."

"The new SMX250HD uses the same boom configuration as the popular standard machine but has a heavier, wider chassis which offers increased ground clearance and superior stability. The increased variable tracking speeds of up to 5.2 km per hour make the SMX250HD ideal for those jobs where longer distances - to aerial masts or pylons in fields, for example - need to be covered from the delivery point."
