New 42m Omme hybrid spider

Danish spider and trailer lift manufacturer Omme Lift is to launch a new lightweight 42 metre hybrid tracked boom lift. The 4200 RBDJ is the company’s largest crawler-mounted boom to date. The seven section boom and 130 degree articulating jib gives a maximum working height of 42 metres and maximum outreach of 15.2 metres. The basket – measuring 1.25 x 0.8 x 1.1 metres – has a capacity of 200kg.

In transit mode the unit measures 8.9 metres long (8.3 metres without the basket), less than two metres high and a minimum retracted width of 1.35 metres. A travel width of 1.75 metres provides more stability when required. Operational width with the outriggers in their widest position is 5.33 metres. Weight is about 6,800kg and the two speed tracked undercarriage can set up on inclines of up to 27 percent.

Its diesel/battery hybrid drive means that the 4200 RBDJ can work both indoor and outdoors. The 400Ah battery pack - which is automatically recharged whenever the diesel engine is deployed – is said to eliminate ‘voltage drop’ which Omme says can reduce the operation of a mains-powered machine even when using a relatively short power cable.

Carsten Poulsen, area sales manager for Omme Lift, said: “This is a lightweight 42 metre boom offering a true battery-diesel hybrid drive train. The battery power provides self-drive and fast lift operation without inconvenient and potentially hazardous connection to the mains. Moreover, power cuts or local voltage fluctuations do not have an influence on a battery lift performance. We engineered the 4200 RBDJ in response to customer demand for this type of unit, which delivers the working height of a big boom or truck-mount, combined with a much lighter weight, better all-terrain performance and much more compact dimensions.”

Omme Lift will officially launch the 4200 RBDJ in June and expects to ship the first units from its factory in Denmark later this summer.
