Peco takes first Terex/Odyne hybrid

Philadelphia electric and natural gas provider Peco has taken delivery of the first 22 Terex Utilities aerial lift/utility trucks to feature the Odyne hybrid power system. The system uses lithium ion batteries with a motor and inverter and features launch assist & regenerative braking to improve fuel efficiency and top up the batteries.

All 22 units have been supplied by Terex Utilities’ distributor Dueco and feature Odyne’s plug-in hybrid power system which has been designed to reduce fuel consumption and noise, while improving efficiency, on medium to heavy-duty trucks. The 22 trucks are part of a 300 vehicle, $45.4 million contract from the U.S. Department of Energy, Electric Power Research Institute and South Coast Air Quality Management District of California.
