Ramirent and Zeppelin team up

Ramirent and Zeppelin Rental have agreed a joint venture to bid for work on the planned Fehmarnbelt tunnel between Denmark and Germany.

Assuming there are no legal competition issues, the two will form Fehmarnbelt Solution Services, and will combine their resources and expertise to offer a broad range of services and equipment, including temporary buildings/cabins, equipment rental, energy and climate solutions, facility management services, access control, maintenance, repair logistics, safety management and training. The joint venture plans to offer a round the clock seven day service on site with rental depots on both the Danish and German side.

Ramirent chief executive Magnus Rosén said: “A project of this magnitude requires international collaboration. By combining our complementary capacities, know-how and services we are offering customized one-stop-solutions for the entire lifecycle of the project on both the Danish and the German side. Furthermore we share our knowledge of the labour market and business practices in both countries.”

Zeppelin Rental chairman Wolfgang Hahnenberg added: “We have profound understanding on how to face and meet challenging projects, timelines and business objectives. With our integrated site and project management services we support customers concentrating on their core business and therefore improving their efficiency and productivity. Together with Ramirent we are simplifying business.”

The 18 kilometre long Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link will be the world’s longest tunnel, comprising a four-lane motorway and a double-track electrified railway running between the Danish and German coast. The €5.5 billion project is expected to start next summer and to be completed in 2021.
The final consortium of constructors is still to be selected after which other subcontractors including rental companies can make their offers.
