Deutz to close facility
Engine manufacturer Deutz has announced the closure of its exchange engine production site in Übersee, Germany.
Following its initial announcement and a three month analysis process, the company has shifted production to its site in Ulm in order to increase productivity and reduce fixed costs. The closure will affect 157 employees.
Deutz chairman Helmut Leube said: “The decision to integrate our plant in Ubersee into the Ulm plant was not easy for us. But by concentrating exchange engines in Ulm we are laying the foundations for our growth strategy in the Xchange and service business. So from a strategic perspective, this is the right decision for the company."
The relocation of the site, which will be carried out in stages, is set for completion by the end of 2015.
