Manbat acquires PowerCell

UK battery distributor Manbat has acquired Essex based PowerCell Industrial Battery Engineers.

Based in Rayne PowerCell supplies and services batteries and chargers for all types of industrial and commercial vehicles. The company will join Manbat’s industrial division.

Manbat said the acquisition is in line with its strategy to develop value added businesses both up and down stream of its core lead recycling and production business. PowerCell managing directors, Derek and Ingrid Anderson, will remain with the company, reporting to Manbat managing director Steve Sheppard.

Sheppard, said: “This acquisition is the perfect fit with our existing industrial battery business and strengthens our position within the industrial sector. It also further adds to the group’s battery distribution businesses, which are now based in the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and France.”

Derek Anderson added: “The synergies between the businesses will make an incredible portfolio, one that will be well placed to take advantage of the opportunities that are arising in the UK, so we are excited by the possibilities. Manbat is now in a position to offer a truly national industrial division. I am looking forward to expanding this specialist side of the business by offering the market place a professional and knowledgeable sales team supported by a fully qualified and dedicated service team.”
