New research building for Tadano
Tadano has completed a new 800 square metre experimental research and testing hall at its plant in Lauf, Germany.
The development is part of a major two year modernisation and expansion programme and provides the company’s engineers with a large laboratory for testing new engines and components prior to, and during, the prototype stage for a new model as well as testing for existing machines. It will include dynamic drive train testing and monitoring along with long term testing of hydraulic systems.
The new building is equipped with two 20 tonne overhead cranes and will also carry out work to test and formulate major field service repairs etc…It also incorporates a full weighbridge with the ability to monitor axles loads with the crane in numerous working and set up configurations with the boom raised or lowered, as well as conduct other road regulation testing on prototypes.

The research and test department works closely with the main engineering/Research & Development group and has a permanent staff of 10.
Department manager Rainer Reif said: "We see ourselves as the extended arm of the development department. In the experimental hall, we lead by example, carrying out functional testing of mobile cranes with the crane supported so that we can test its powertrain or hydraulic systems with the engine running,"
