CISRS training facility in South Korea
CISRS scaffolding training provider Safety & Access has opened a new training facility in South Korea.
Set up in partnership with shipbuilding, offshore and wind energy company Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), the scaffolding training centre will provide CISRS-accredited scaffolder skills training, inspection and supervisory qualifications delivered by full time UK-registered instructors. Successful completion of the training will result in the issue of CISRS certification and skills cards.
The centre will primarily be serving Samsung Heavy Industries' business from its shipyard at Geoje Island with an additional management training facility located in the nearby city of Busan.

Safety & Access joint managing director Rick Statham, said: “We are delighted to have achieved a long term partnership status with SHI for the delivery of scaffold and access related management and skills training. Work at height is a high risk occupation and we are committed to the delivery of safe, quality training standards. To be the first in Korea to achieve CISRS status is a huge boost to the independent credibility of our delivery and one that will only strengthen the commercial position of all involved.”
CISRS scheme manager Dave Mosley, who conducted the independent audit of the new centre, added: “Whilst CISRS has been the recognised standard for scaffolding training and qualification in the UK for 40 years the Overseas Training Scheme (OSTS) is still in its infancy. As such we are extremely pleased to be working with a major international business such as Samsung Heavy Industry and we applaud their commitment to implementing scaffolding training standards which far exceed current practices in their region.”
Safety & Access is one of the UK’s leading CISRS scaffolding training and health and safety consultancy providers. Operating from UK facilities in Nottingham and Stallingborough the company also has training facilities in the United Arab Emirates located in Abu Dhabi and Umm Al Quwain.
