The crane, a Liebherr LTM1500 owned and operated by Whyte Crane Hire, tipped over backwards when the ground under one of its outriggers gave way while working at Aquatic Engineering and Construction’s based on the Dales Industrial Estate in Peterhead, Scotland. The crane has remained in its overturned position since then, while a recovery plan was agreed between the crane’s manufacturer, the rental company and the site owners - see: Original incident report.

A spokeswoman for Acuatic said: “Aquatic Engineering and Construction, an Acteon company, will be providing Whyte Crane Hire and Liebherr with every assistance during the salvage of their equipment from our Operations Centre on South View Place, Peterhead at the end of September. The recovery operation will commence on September 29th and last for approximately five days with the priority to ensure the operation is completed safely.”

We understand that the recovery operation will be carried out with a focus on minimising the damage to the crane as in the safest way possible. We are hoping to publish a report on the recovery operation once it has been completed.
