New access rental entrant in UK

Star Platforms, a new powered access rental company based in Luton, has been launched in the UK today.

The company will operate from a location near junction nine of the M1 motorway, south of Luton, serving Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, as well as north and west London. The company is owned and managed by managing director Steve Simmons.

Simmons has 20 years’ experience in the powered access industry and was previously operations director with Panther Platform Rentals. More recently, he has held a number of senior roles within the Lavendon group, the parent of Nationwide Platforms.

The initial fleet is made up predominantly of electric Skyjack scissor lifts, Niftylift bi-energy booms and Skyjack Rough Terrain booms.

“The time was right to launch Star Platforms. With economic confidence picking up, demand for powered access hire will continue to grow over the next few years. With an initial investment in more than 80 machines, our business offer is based on quality equipment and excellent customer service, delivered by staff who really understand the needs of powered access users,” said Simmons.

I first had dealing with Steve when I started in the access industry and he was with Panther.
Back then he had a great attitude of how renting machines should be done and his customer service was second to none.
I wish him all the best for his new venture and I have no doubt it will be a success.
