ZF delivers 5 000th crane transmission
ZF introduced the AS Tronic automatic crane transmission system five years ago today, and has delivered the 5,000th unit to Liebherr at the end of 2005. The unit was installed in an LTM1200. ZF says that the AS Tronic is becoming increasing in popular with crane manufacturers thanks to its light weight, installation space, and fuel consumption.

In addition, the ZF transmission can be easily adapted to allow vehicle operation from both cabins of the crane.
“The AS Tronic for mobile cranes represents a highly flexible and customer-oriented concept!” says Wolfgang Vogel, group executive of the commercial vehicle and special driveline technology division and member of the management board of ZF Friedrichshafen AG.
“This way, the AS Tronic will gain further share of this market” Tadano-Faun, Grove, and Terex-Demag all currently use the ZF transmission in certain models.
