Manlift relocates and expands

Manlift Manufacturing, the US based specialist aerial work platform producer, has relocated its plant and offices from Cudahy, Wisconsin, to Shelby, North Carolina.

The new 22,000 square metre facility, includes the company’s offices and production facility, it was acquired by Manlift’s parent company, Universal Manufacturing, with the recent acquisition of contract manufacturer Ultra Machine & Fabrication and Ultra Armoring, a defence contractor from the founder and owner Frank Stewart. The factory was scheduled to close before the last minute acquisition by Universal.

The Manlift management team will relocate to North Carolina and manage all three companies as a single operation. The merger with the Ultra businesses, also provides Manlift with state of the art production equipment and a mature quality control department, which will be headed up by Graeme McWilliams, a 25 year veteran of the defence contracting industry.

Since moving into the new plant, Manlift has tripled the size of the engineering team, and hired a new vice President of engineering - Callum Sullivan, who has a background in the aerospace market.

Other new appointments the move of Manlift’s production floor leader Eric Tindall to head the aftermarket sales and service department.

Manlift chief executive Phil Sprio said: “We are excited to move to a facility that allows us to take our business to the next level and increase our manufacturing capacity. We expect that our customers will be happy with the increased aftermarket support capabilities and larger engineering team we are building.

We have always worked hard to provide our customers with solutions that provide increased safety and productivity.
