TII acquires Tratec
The German based TII group, owner of Scheuerle, Nicolas and Kamag specialist trailer and SMTP manufacturers, has acquired the civilian product range of Indian modular trailer manufacturer Tratec Engineers.
The all asset deal includes a 28,000 square metre production facility in Bawal, Haryana, near Delhi, the brand name Tratec and the company’s civilian trailer product line.
The business has been incorporated into a new company TII India which will offer a variety of transportation equipment under the Tratec Tiger brand from next spring.
The products, which were already being built to compete with German modular trailers on the export market, will follow a “German Engineering – Made in India” philosophy, using well proven technology that best suits the local market. In addition to modular axle units the company will offer a range of light telescopic and non-telescopic trailers.
Tratec Engineers, which was founded in 1995 by three experienced trailer men, will retain its military and government business which includes building tank transporters for the Indian army.
