The world's largest self-propelled single boom crane vessel - the Zhen Hua 30 – achieved a new heavy lift record during commissioning in December.
The 12,000 tonne crane completed a 360 degree slew lift of 7,700 tonnes and a 13,200 tonne lift over the stern, as part its test programme.
Built by Zhenhua Heavy Industries in Chanxiang, China, the vessel is 297.6 metres long, 58 metres wide and 28.8 metres deep with a transit speed of 12 knots. The Zhen Hua 30 is the 18th offshore construction vessel that the company has built, with crane capacities of 2,000 tonnes or more since 2005.

The vessel is registered in Hong Kong, and is owned by ZPMC-OTL Marine Contractors – a joint venture formed between ZPMC Offshore Services Group and Offshore Tech to provide niche vessels and engineering services to the offshore oil & gas sector. It operates a fleet of two heavy lift vessels, 23 transportation crafts, five shear leg cranes, 18 tugs, 22 barges, and three jack-up barges.
The vessel commenced its sea trials at the start of the year and is due to go into service by the end of the first quarter 2016.
