Crane operator fatality

A crane operator working on a highway construction job in Arkansas died last week as a result of an incident while carrying out a lift.

Police have not revealed details of the incident, but we understand that it involved a truck crane. The police have though said that the deceased is Matthew Kyle Ferrari, 28, whom they describe as a crane operator. He was employed by contractor Main Construction.

The incident occurred sometime on Wednesday March 2nd on Highway 7 near Dover north west of Little Rock. We will update this if and when we receive more information.

The company BC Main Construction has been cited with a fine of $46,200 for not ensuring that a qualified person inspected repaired equipment to ensure the repair met the manufacturer’s criteria, and for making modifications or additions unapproved by the manufacturer that affected the safe operation of the equipment.
