ALE plans 8,000 tonne crane

UK-based heavy lift and transport company ALE has announced plans to build an 8,000 tonne capacity heavy lift solution - the AL.SK700.

The unit combines two AL.SK cranes into a single, twin-boomed, mega lift crane with a load moment of 708,000 tonne/metres. The system will use two 4,000 tonne winch systems, and two hook blocks operated from one control point by a single operator.

ALE has announced plans for an 8,000 tonne capacity heavy lift solution known as the AL.SK700

The new crane - part of the company's Innovation Series - will be suited to lifting super-heavy modules increasingly found in the offshore and shipbuilding industry. It will be fully containerised for shipping, allowing it to be deployed easily no matter when and what market sectors.

“At present, our AL.SK350 has the lifting capacity of 5,000 tonnes and a load moment of 354,000 tonne/metres,” said Giovanni Alders, sales manager global projects division. “We are receiving requests to lift up to 7,000 tonnes, particularly in the shipbuilding and offshore sector with the integration of heavier FPSOs (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading units) and LNG (liquefied natural gas) modules onto new build hulls".

"We are always looking for innovative ways to solve our clients’ challenges and reduce project schedules and money spent. By joining two cranes together into the AL.SK700 we can lift loads weighing 8,000 tonnes, which has never been previously achievable. This highly mobile solution will give clients the opportunity to build super-heavy modules and structures in any fabrication yard around the world.”
