First LR 1750/2 in the USA

US based W. O. Grubb Crane Rental has taken delivery of the first 750 tonne Liebherr LR 1750/2 crawler crane to arrive in the USA.

The new crane was introduced last March as an upgrade to the LR 1750, and features the new ‘H’ or Heavy boom configuration, which includes a strengthening of the main boom and a seven metre extension to the derrick boom, taking it to 38.5 metres. The changes are said to have increased the crane’s capacities by up to 30 percent in some areas.

The suspended ballast trailer has also been modified to include a hydraulic drive system, while work at height safety features have been revised through the machine, with additional platforms/access points added as well as improved guardrails. a strengthened main and derrick boom with the H

Grubb's new flagship crane, the 750 tonne Liebherr LR 1750/2


Crawler crane division manager Eddie Duffie said: “We purchased the Liebherr LR 1750/2 to better serve our customers in the power and construction industries, by adding this higher capacity crawler crane to our rental fleet. We utilise the other Liebherr cranes in our fleet on a daily basis and they have proven to be very high quality and dependable machines. We are very excited of the opportunities that this crane will bring to our company.”

W. O. Grubb provides crane rental, rigging, specialised heavy hauling, and steel erection services in the Mid- Atlantic region of the USA. Founded in the 1962 it now operates from 10 locations, including a new location in Wilmington, North Carolina, with a fleet of over 250 cranes ranging from six ton carry deck cranes to this new LR 1750/2.
