Tree trimmer catapulted

A man trimming trees was catapulted out of his bucket truck in Titusville, Florida yesterday.

The man was airlifted to hospital where he is said to be in a critical condition. Reports indicate that the man had tied a tree limb to the platform to stop it falling on a house below and it suddenly broke free from the tree and was caught by the boom, but the resulting catapult effect threw the occupant out of the platform and around 14 metres or so to the ground.

Given the fact that he was thrown to the ground we assume that he was not wearing an attached harness.
