100 unit order for UpRight

UpRight has booked a 100 unit order for its popular four metre TM12 self propelled lift. The order is the first major sale after the completion of the acquisition by the Tanfield Group.

The deal is said to be worth $1 million, UpRight is declining to name the buyer until it has its approval to do so.

Darren Kell, Tanfield business development director said: “We are currently working on increasing machine production to meet demand, while we also look to improve availability of spare parts and customer service in general.

“UpRight was one of the biggest powered access manufacturers in the world not long ago and remains a brand that is respected across the globe. “We are confident that we can grow this business by providing a level of service that matches the industry’s expectations.”

Roy Stanley, chief executive of Tanfield, said: “We have already seen a significant uplift in enquiries and sales of UpRight Powered Access products.

“We are in negotiations with several major companies, over the supply of similar significant volumes of UpRight products and we anticipate winning further orders.”

Vertikal Comment

While not a massive order at the time when single orders for $50 million and more are flying around, this is significant in that it is probably the largest single American order for UpRight in sometime.

UpRight has maintained a consistent although modest presence in the USA through out the challenges of the past two to three years. Its presence in the market has been almost invisible although it has always sold a good deal more than most competitors realised.

Even the mighty United Rentals, never an UpRight supporter, has purchased a few UpRight models in recent years. However, this order is of a different magnitude and comes far faster than many observers would have expected.
