Another Hewden depot acquired

UK rental company Nixon Hire has confirmed the acquisition of the Hewden depot in Nottingham the deal, said to have been worth at least £2 million, was formally concluded on December 20th.

The deal includes the location and the locally based rental inventory, while the staff have the opportunity to transfer to the Nixon Hire payroll. The Nottingham location is substantial, and once served as a crane depot in addition to general equipment, telehandlers and aerial lifts. The new addition takes the company’s network in the UK to 14 locations. It also has a depot in Doha, Qatar. The company runs a fleet of telehandlers and also offers aerial lifts on a rehire basis.

Nixon managing director Graham Nixon said: "I am delighted that we have been able to successfully negotiate taking ownership of this site and the associated equipment. I am also extremely pleased that we have been able to provide employment to staff left uncertain of the depot's future following the collapse of Hewden. It was very important to us to retain the knowledgeable, experienced and local staff to help us take the business forward."

Nottingham is a prime location for Nixon Hire and falls in line with our plans for expanding our depot network further south. I can confirm that this depot will offer products from each of our divisions to include plant, accommodation, toilet and welfare facilities."
