NFT consolidates Abu Dhabi yards

Abu Dhabi based international tower crane specialist NFT has consolidated its two existing Abu Dhabi yards at Al Mafraq and Sweihan into a single mega yard in Al Dhafra.

The company has also has plans to relocate its headquarters to the 300,000 square metre/74 acre site in the future. The site will be the base for 1,800 tower cranes, 500 hoists, and 35,000 line items in the new spare parts warehouse. The company is a regional distributor for Potain tower cranes, Pega and Gjj/Orbit mast climbers and hoists.

The company says that it has seen a substantial increase in demand of used equipment and in order to respond to this it has dedicated two buildings to the reconditioning of used tower cranes. One will cover any welding and painting required, while the other will focus on mechanical and electrical work. A large testing area has also been created. With the move to the new facility the company has implemented new software with barcoding, that will allow the workshop and service teams to check and locate available items quickly and efficiently.

The company is also celebrating 30 years in business having been established in 1987 when founder and managing director Nabil Al Zahlawi moved from Saudi Arabian Potain tower crane dealer AAA to Abu Dhabi to establish a company to exploit the potential in the UAE. The company added crane rental in 2000 and is now the largest owner of Potain tower cranes in the world. It operates in 36 countries and has locations in AbuDhabi, Dubai, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Kuwait, Massmechelen Belgium and a partnership with Radius in Northampton, UK.

Al Zahlawi, said: "After extensive and careful research, the plot of land in Al Dhafra was chosen to be the base of our operations not only for the UAE, but for our worldwide activities as well. In less than three months, more than 1,000 delivery trips completed the move from Mafraq to Dhafra, without any interruption of our ongoing export/import operations. Our day-to-day work was not compromised and the move from the 15,000 square metre Mafraq yard to Dhafra was completed,”

"As a forward-thinking and innovative leader in the industry, NFT believes that this move can only strengthen its position and continuous effort to increase its stock, protect the quality of new equipment and to recondition used items to almost brand new status.”
