CTE and France Elévateur team up in Germany

Italian truck mount and spider lift manufacturer CTE has appointed France Elevateur Deutschland as its distributor for Germany and Austria.

The company will take over from Hematec which has distributed CTE in Germany since 2006. France Elévateur has been the CTE distributor for the French market since 2013, when it acquired CTE France and merged it with its AB Service distribution and product support operation. It is interesting to see these two manufacturers move closer together. This announcement is timed to be ready, one assumes, for an official launch at Platformer Days in a couple of weeks. CTE will be hoping that its new partner will help boost sales volumes in Germany, whether this happens or not remains to be seen of course as the truck mounted market in Germany has been a hotly contested on for many years, with the two leading German manufacturers now owning Italian manufacturing subsidiaries allowing them to offer simpler, lower cost Italian machines in addition to their high tech - some might say over engineered - German products.

France Elévateur has not exactly been the most dynamic player in the German high volume access market, and is likely to be hoping that the CTE products will bring in a wider customer base that will also help sell its own products while sharing its overheads. The French manufacturer's products are more specialised vehicle mounted lifts, and as such make a very good strategic fit with those of CTE.

The collaboration has some strong potential, whether that is realised or not is an entirely different matter.
