Crane Institute adds towers
US based Crane Institute Certification (CIC) has introduced a tower crane operator certification programme.
The certification covers self-erecting, fixed jib, and luffing jib tower cranes, with candidates needing to pass a written and a practical exam in order to earn the certification.
The company has been offering OSHA recognised - NCCA accredited certification for operators of telescopic cranes with capacity classes of 21, 21 to 75 and over 75 tons, as well as certification for lattice boom cranes, articulating boom/loader cranes, service/mechanic truck cranes and precast concrete delivery cranes. Not to mention a couple of rigging/signaller certifications, but this is its first tower crane operator certification.
President Jim Headley said: “Although we have been certifying mobile crane operators for a decade, one of the most frequent requests we heard over the last few years was for a tower crane operator certification. We are proud to offer CIC’s higher level of certification for the three types of tower cranes.”
