Germany’s 14,000th Merlo

German rental company HKL Baumaschinen has taken delivery of a 3.8 tonne Merlo P38.13 telehandler, the 14,000th telehandler sold by Merlo in Germany.

The P38.13 has a lift height of 12.6 metres, and a maximum capacity of 3,800kg. It is the 2,000th Merlo telehandler to join the HKL fleet. The two companies have been working together for 25 years.

Last year, HKL opened a new location in Dortmund specialises in aerial lifts including scissors, booms, trailer lifts, and vehicle mounts, alongside telehandlers up to 27 metres. The company has around 80,000 machines in its fleet and operates from 140 locations in Germany, Austria and Poland.

Merlo managing director Henrich Clewing said: "HKL is an excellent example of how successful a long term business connection in the market can function. It is a testament to our philosophy."

HKL chief executive Frank Seidler added: "Most of our locations have several Merlo telehandlers in their fleets. In Dortmund, we even opened our own specialist high reach centre, where we offer rigid frame and Roto telehandlers – from Merlo with a capacity of up to 4.5 tonnes. We will expand this segment nationwide in the coming years. Our 2,000th Merlo machine underlines our longstanding and successful co-operation."
