Crew cab Flying Carpet

UK-based sales and rental company Platform Sales & Hire has delivered a special version of its truck mounted ‘Flying Carpet’ scissor lift.

The 10 metre working height VM26S is mounted on a four tonne Iveco chassis fitted with a crew cab. The larger cab will allow for up to seven aircraft maintenance engineers to be transported to the aircraft ramp, saving the need for extra vehicles on the airport apron which can often become congested on quick turnarounds.

The 10m working height Flying Carpet VM26S for Virgin Atlantic, Manchester

The unit, designed and built at the company’s Milton Keynes facility, has been purchased by Virgin Atlantic for its operations at Manchester Airport. Platform capacity is 280kg - enough for three men and their tools. The working height is sufficient enough to allow the service crew to reach the APU areas of most single and wide bodied aircraft. The scissor lift is hydraulically driven via the trucks Power Take Off.
