First Canadian 100t Grove
Canadian rental company R&D Crane Rental has taken delivery of a 100 tonne Grove TMS9000-2 truck crane, the first in Canada.
The four axle crane features a 51.6 metre six section Megaform Twin Lock boom with manual offset or luffing bi-fold swingaway options and additional inserts. The crane has an overall width of 2.6 metres and an overall length of 13.4 metres. It was delivered by New England based Grove dealer Shawmut Equipment, and went straight to work on a new Marriott hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Grove TMS9000-2
Operations manager Alex Jenkins said: “We are a relatively new company, and we wanted to add a crane to our fleet that would boost our reputation in Canada. We feel that the TMS9000-2 has done that. The main selling point for us was the longer main boom. Other comparable cranes only have 142ft of main boom, while the TMS9000-2 gives you 169ft. That extra reach has saved us hours on the job since we don’t have to take a swingaway on and off the crane.”
“The TMS9000-2 has a comparable gross weight to that of a lower capacity crane, but you also get extra boom length. This makes it easier to get proper road permits in our region. The crane has worked almost every day since we acquired it. It gives us the reach we need to adapt to a wide range of job sites.”
Based in Burnside, Nova Scotia, R&D Crane is a division of the Cherubini Group of companies and provides crane services to a wide range of industries, including construction, commercial, marine, wind and residential.
