New owner for Hirschmann

German crane load moment indicator and safety systems manufacturer Hirschmann Mobile Machine Control Solutions (MCS) has been acquired by the German based WIKA Group. The business will now operate as WIKA Mobile Control.

Hirschmann has been owned by US company Belden since 2007, when it acquired the business from private equity firm Hg Capital - See PAT Parent sold.
Family owned WIKA was founded in 1946 and employs 9,430, specialising in pressure, temperature, fluid levels, flow and calibration equipment. The new WIKA Mobile Control business will operate as an independent organisation within the group.

WIKA executive vice president Axel Kaltofen said: "We value the expertise of our employees. For this reason, all 373 jobs will be retained - 98 in Ettlingen, 29 in Chambersburg and 246 in China. WIKA and Hirschmann MCS match very well. As part of the repositioning, we will use the synergies from the solutions and components business to further expand our systems business in the long term. This will enable us to strengthen our market position on an international level."

WIKA managing director Alexander Wiegand added: "We have the vision to offer our customers an automation platform for mobile machines with the combined expertise of both organisations. The strategic reinforcement creates an excellent positioning for the future. This allows us to continue growing and offers development opportunities for our employees."
