Update on crane accident

More details are gradually emerging on the tragic tower crane collapse last night, the crane was rented from Norfolk based tower crane company Falcon. The 37-year-old crane driver, who died when he was flung out of his cab, was an employee of the company.

The second man who died was bus driver Michael Alexa, a 23, year old father, he was washing his car when he was crushed by the falling jib.

Falcon Crane Hire, one of the largest tower crane companies in the UK, is based at Shipdham Airfield, near Thetford, Norfolk.

Although we can still not be 100 percent certain, it now seems that the slew ring broke free from the top of the tower allowing the top mast, jib, back mast and counterweight to fall to the ground.
