American Rentals expands

Los Angeles, US, based American Rentals has acquired tool and light equipment rental company Highland Equipment Rental, of San Bernardino California.

The sale was prompted by the pending retirement of owner Andy Anderson. The acquisition will provide Long Beach based American Rentals - which rents a wider range of heavier equipment including aerial work platforms and telehandlers – with its fourth location, the others being Bellflower towards central Los Angeles and Citrus to the east near Anaheim. Highland will initially continue to trade without change but will eventually be rebranded as American Rentals.

Anderson and his wife Linda set up Highland Equipment in 1997, following a 23 year career in the equipment rental industry.
